The proposal of the Nashik Muncipal Corporation (NMC) to increase the height of the buildings in the city from the existing 40 meters to 45 meters is pending with the maharashtra state urban development department.
Presently, buildings in the city can accommodate upto 12 floors. But, the town planning department of the NMC has just sent a proposal to the state government to raise the height to 45 meters. The Buildings upto 14-storey can be built once the state government gives approval to the proposal.
A senior municipal corporation official said, ” We have already sent a proposal seeking permission for the buildings upto 45 meter height in the limit of NMC. The proposal is pending with the state government and we are waiting for its approval. We are pursuing the issue with the state government and will soon send a reminder to the department.”
Earlier, buildings upto 24 meter height were permissible in Nashik. These could accommodate upto seven stories. In 2010, norms were changed and the maximum height permissible was increased to 40 meters. Around 30-40 housing projects with 12 floors are being constructed in Nashik City, officials said.
The population of the city has touched 17 lac and it is increasing day by day. The land rates have increased and land is also not available in the city. Hence, vertical growth of the city is also necessary apart from horizontal growth.
